A Viking meets Tiger Scouts

My son is in boy scouts and my husband was asked to visit the boys in his viking outfit and give a short talk about vikings and show some of his gear.

My husband brought along his wooden plates, horn cup and spoon, swords, spear, tunics, shield, helmet and bone needles.

The boys got to handle the equipment, try it on and ask questions.

Showing his sword.

Boys tried on a viking tunic. Pink was a boy color back then.

All the boys posing with a viking.

Please join Tracy, Lynda and I over at NOBH. We are doing a give away this month!!

  1. This looks so awesome! I bet the boys loved the Viking visit! Great pictures too and that's interesting that pink was a "boy" color at one time :) I've been clicking votes for you, including today :)

  9. Colors mattered a lot more back then, because it was the way to show off that you were a wealthy man. The deeper the color, the more expensive (for example, dark red came from crushed beetle shells, and it took a LOT of beetles to make a red dye). Purple was the color of kings because they were the only people who could afford it!

  10. What a wonderful father/son memory. It is nice to see your husband so involved. I have not known many dads to be there for their children like that.
I voted for you yesterday and today.
