we looked at convex and concave lenses |
Constructed our own Newtonian telescope |
Learned about triangulation and how to measure distances and heights using a protractor |
Looked at the orbit of earth and the moon |
Iced cookies to the different phases of the moon |
and then ate them:) |
My friend made a round cake to represent earth I thought this was such a great idea:)!!! |
and the kids made mini moons out of marzipan and while using a slide projector for the sun (light) was able to show the many phases of the moon |
I found this great photo on Pinterest to visualize the concept of planet size here |
Next we used measurements found in our workbook to measure out the distance between the planet in relation to the sun |
We played a Space Jeopardy game to see what the kids remembered about all they have learned so far. |
We are having a great time exploring space and learning along side our friends and I am amazed at the many wonderful learning experiences we had been able to provide for the children in order to help them learn:)
Now we are on the same page. We have also been studying moon phases and astronomy with a friend. Last week the kids made their own telescopes. How ironic.
