Crossing the English Channel

Last week the kids and I joined my husband while he went to Germany on a business trip.  He was able to take a few days off before and after his trip so we were able to include several field trips to some WWI to aid in our history lessons.  But first we had to get there.  We decided to drive so we took the train and went under the English Channel.
the long train which carries cars, caravans and trucks across the Channel

Boarding the train

Parking with help.  there is about 6 or 7 cars per cabin

Then the door closes

Kids were excited for a bit then got bored and played their electronic games

But first we had to get out and see the tunnel.  I had to find and read the emergency card so I felt comfortable knowing where to go if I started to see water in the compartment...Yes I really did do this

Exiting the train on the French side.
We are off to begin our adventures.  Hope you come back to see where we went and what we learned.

  2. Wow! I had no idea that cars went on a train! They go on ferries here, but for some reason I thought the Chunnel had a road that people drove on... Learn something new every day!
