Art Lesson Pablo Picasso

This month the children and I have been working with the Meet the Masters Art Program focusing on Pablo Picasso. Most people of familiar with his Cubist style but did you know he had 3 other styles that he is known for: The Blue period, Rose period and the Classical period. This program gave us a great over view of each of his styles. In addition to this program the children and I read the book Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artist by Mike Venezia.

The art project this month: First the kids colored in a picture using markers

Then we cut the picture into quarters and rearranged the picture on a back paper and glued them down.

The children's completed works

My completed picture;)

Both kids really enjoy the cubist style and wanted to do another picture so this time I turned to the book You Can Paint Like the Masters by Amy Runyen. While this book suggests using paints the kids wanted to use the markers again.

It is a new month go check out these two great Monthly hops and link up

  1. These turned out beautiful! Love the bright colors and you should frame these and have your own art gallery! Great job everyone! I bought the MTM program, but have not used it yet :( Maybe one day I'll get to it! Have a blessed weekend! Clicked a vote for you!

  3. Again, I always learn some great things on your posts. Perhaps this is my way of going back to school. Anyway, I love your adventures. Tell those children of yours that I loved their art work.
Blessings to you for your creative spirit.

  10. Hi!

I came over from the No Ordinary Blog Hop and I was excited to see all of the artwork. I love kids' artwork. There is actually a site that offers a service. They'll take your kids drawings and make them into stuffed animals or toys. Here's the link: http://www.childsown.com/index.html

They're not taking any more orders for 2011, but seriously, how cool is that?

I'd love for you to give me a visit: http://anywhere-is.net

    Take care!! :D

  11. Looks like you guys had fun with that unit! I sure wish my son liked MTM. Last year, he liked it better, part of it is just the whole "I'm becoming a poopy-head teenager and won't be a pleasant person again for four more years" attitude. :-) Actually, it's really metamorphosing into his own person...

  14. I just found your blog and love this idea! The bright colors look great and the projects turned out so well. Did you have a master copy to xerox or did the children draw their pictures before coloring them in? Thanks for the great idea!
