Ludwigsburg Palace - Germany
While on our trip to Germany we visited one of the largest Baroque Palaces in Germany. The gardens were spectacular, rivaling anything we have seen here in England. We were able to attend an English-speaking tour and see inside this magnificent palace.
Above is the picture of the entrance from the street. This picture is inside the courtyard of the palace.
The Duke's bedroom. While the fabric is now gray and dull in color we were told it was once a beautiful blue color.
His wife's bedroom.
Nearly every room in the palace had frescoes on the ceiling. This was a hallway leading from one wing to another wing. Paintings hung along the walls and urns from around the world also were on display.
Furnishings in some of the rooms.
Just one of the the amazing sculptures found throughout the palace.
Just one of the many gardens surrounding the Palace.
This Palace was built around 1700 for the Duke of Wurttemberg. He built it to be his hunting lodge and palace. It miraculously survived WWII intact as there were no military targets inside the Ludwigsburg and the city was not bombed. There are over 350 rooms in the palace and our tour took over one and half hours and the guide told us we would walk over a mile to see just 72 of the rooms.
I love looking at architecture and furnishings of various time periods and this did not disappoint:)
AWESOME! Your pictures are beautiful and the memories priceless!
